'Teasing Georgia'

Newly repillarized for the 2011 growing season. Enjoy, John

  1. John,...two questions. One, you used rebar in this video? Doesn't rebar get very hot in the florida sun? Two, with the shrub wrapped tight, won't the shrub scar itself in the wind on the thin rebar?

  2. Good question.....it seems that the roses I train up the rebar quickly consume and shade it. Plus the sun ia overhead and does not heat the bar much. I have had a number of roses trained this way over the years go through many of Tampa's violent thunderstorms plus hurricanes and emerge unscathed......the tight wrapping of the canes to the rebar seems to preclude any real rubbing or scarring.
