A truly decadent deep red rose.....Louis XIV

Oddly, though considered a seedling of  the Hybrid Perpetual 'General Jacqueminot'  (1853), 'Louis XIV' is usually classified as a China Rose. I love the rich sultry color and heady perfume. John

  2. The fragrance is astonishing! I lost it and many dozens of roses to 6 years of drought, but am rebuilding my collection by growing roses in buried 5-7 gallon Water Wise Container Gardens I make from discarded plastic buckets. I will be ordering a new specimen of Louis XIV and E. Veyrat Hermanos from Roses Unlimited.
